Automotive cooling system components require regular inspection and maintenance

2023-03-15

The radiator, cooling system and coolant play a key role in the cooling process, they remove the heat and reduce the stress on the engine.
Most cars have a similar cooling system, made up of several components that need to be checked regularly. These include:
Radiator: An important part of a car's cooling system, the radiator moves hot coolant through its metal fins -- cooling it in the process -- before pumping it back into the engine block.

Radiator Hoses and Housings: Used to transport coolant throughout the engine, the hoses require regular inspection—and occasional replacement—to avoid them becoming brittle and cracking.
Water Pump: Just like the human heart pumps blood throughout the body, the job of the water pump is to pump coolant around the engine. If not checked regularly, the water pump can be prone to corrosion, running bearings and leaking seals.
Thermostat: The thermostat controls the circulation rate of the coolant in your car and helps ensure that your engine maintains a constant operating temperature. A malfunctioning or malfunctioning thermostat can lead to costly problems such as increased engine wear, poor fuel economy and even engine overheating.
Electric Cooling Fan: The electric cooling fan is controlled by the thermostat or the engine computer and activates automatically to help the thermostat and coolant maintain a consistent engine temperature.

Get your radiator and cooling system serviced right away, before a minor problem becomes a major problem.
Car engines generate a lot of heat when they are running, and if not cooled continuously, the heat can cause serious damage to the engine.
